March 2016 Chartwell recently hosted a group of students from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management career trek program in our Minneapolis office. The students met with our professionals and learned about the world of valuation and corporate finance. Organized by the Undergraduate Business Career Center, consulting and investment banking career treks offer students the opportunity to visit leading companies in the world of finance, network with distinguished alumni, and explore career opportunities. As many trek participants are undecided about their career paths, these excursions provide the opportunity to learn more about investment banking careers and see what it is like to work in finance through educational sessions at multiple firms throughout an entire day. Each session typically consists of a small panel discussion and time for Q&A. The treks also provide students with a real-world networking opportunity by exposing them to other students, corporate recruiters, professionals, and alumni. In our Minneapolis headquarters, a mix of junior and senior Chartwell professionals presented an overview of our firm and then participated in a Q&A, sharing their career experience and advice with the students. This is the second year Chartwell has participated in Carlson’s educational outreach program. Chartwell is proud to support the career development of the next generation of professionals and honored to have the opportunity to market our firm to the best in undergraduate talent in Minneapolis for future employment.
