Financial Analyst
Description

The primary focus of this position is to assist with project execution across Chartwell’s valuation, corporate finance/investment banking, and advisory practices.  The role is designed to provide the Analyst with a broad-based understanding and knowledge of all of Chartwell’s practices by working with different team members across all disciplines.  Specific analytical tasks will include: historical and pro forma client company financial analysis; public company peer group market analysis; merger and acquisition market peer group analysis; discounted cash flow analysis; industry research; report writing; presentation preparation; marketing support activities; analysis and other such activities as deemed relevant to the firm’s success.  In addition, the Analyst will also be involved in corporate marketing activities including pitch and proposal development, prospect company research and due diligence investigation, relevant financial and economic research, and sales presentations with prospective clients as directed. 

This position requires the Analyst to develop over time a deep understanding of cash flow modeling and corporate finance theory, valuation, and various processes and methodologies used by Chartwell, as well as a detailed working knowledge and expertise with Chartwell’s proprietary financial models.  An ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial and independent mindset in order to operate in a tight-knit office within Chartwell’s national practice.  The candidate should be a self-starter comfortable with working in a variety of environments, including various team sizes and involvement with different Chartwell offices.

Basic Qualifications
  • 4 year undergraduate business degree with focus in finance or accounting
  • Knowledge of corporate finance theories and financial modeling
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced experience in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

The primary focus of this position is to assist Project Managers and Analysts with client project execution across all Chartwell business units.  The role is designed to provide the Intern Analyst with an entry level understanding and knowledge of project execution.  Specific analytical tasks may include; historical and pro forma client company financial analysis; public company peer group market analysis; merger and acquisition market peer group analysis; discounted cash flow analysis; industry research and analysis; report writing; presentation preparation; and other such analysis as deemed relevant related to project execution.  In addition, the Intern Analyst may be involved in corporate marketing activities including pitch and proposal development, prospect company research and due diligence investigation, relevant financial and economic research and sales presentations with prospective clients as directed. 

The Intern Analyst should be a self-starter comfortable with working in a variety of environments, including various team sizes and involvement with different Chartwell offices.  The Intern Analyst position at Chartwell is intended to be a steppingstone to a full-time Analyst position, so careful consideration will be afforded to cultural fit within the Minneapolis office.

Basic Qualifications
  • Must have completed at least 2 years of an undergraduate degree. Additional consideration will be given to degrees with focus in finance, accounting, or a related field with completion of coursework in finance theories
  • GPA of at least 3.4
