Richard leads the delivery of Chartwell’s West Coast financial advisory and consulting services.  He has worked with ESOPs and other retirement plans for over 25 years.  Richard is a recognized authority in fiduciary compliance, corporate governance, ESOP transaction structure and execution, and other business issues involving capital planning for privately held companies. 



Richard is a frequent speaker at local, regional, and national ESOP conferences. He is an active member of the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO), The ESOP Association, Employee-Owned S Corporations of America (ESCA), and the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG).



Prior to joining Chartwell, Richard was a Managing Director with Alerus Financial’s ESOP Services practice, where he regularly engaged with companies on a broad range of topics including ESOP formation, fiduciary issues, stock transaction structure, corporate governance, repurchase obligation, stock valuation and capital analysis, ESOP sustainability, and participant communications.


Richard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Arizona State University.
